How can I help?
Hi, I am a qualified and experienced UKCP Accredited Hull based counsellor, If you are experiencing difficulties, and want to refocus your life then therapy can help you. Often experiences in the past can affect your relationships and behaviour in the present and this can stop you from moving forward and developing as an individual.
Taking that first step to seek out help can be daunting, I want to assure you that I will be empathic and non-judgemental and will allow you to take as much time as you need to talk through your thoughts and feelings. Understanding yourself really is invaluable and can lead to change and being able to live a full and happy life.
I am an experienced Relational Centred Counsellor having trained over ten years ago at SCPTI (Scarborough Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Institute). Since qualifying I have worked in various settings including within the NHS Let’s Talk, Children’s Centres, Rape Crisis, Survivors (Adult survivors of Sexual Abuse), and private practice.
I have worked with a range of issues that include bereavement and loss. In this present climate due to COVID-19 and social distancing, loss of connectedness and loss of finances are very prominent.
I feel privileged to work as a therapist and be part of an individual’s journey to self-discovery. I will treat you with respect and allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe contained space.
I would describe myself as being very down to earth, creative and caring.
What kind of counselling do I provide?
I am a Relational Centred Counsellor and use a number of different theories and models, including Person-Centred Counselling, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory and goal setting. I have experience of working with both private clients and clients within NHS, Private and Statutory sectors.
My approach offers a Humanistic Relational perspective, I believe in an individual’s capacity to grow, change and heal through a positive therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide a safe confidential space in which to explore difficulties, issues and concerns so genuine change can occur.
How many sessions do I need?
That’s entirely up to you. You can come to your first session and decide that you’ve managed to come to a resolution about what was troubling you, or you may decide to embark on longer-term therapy, or something in between! There is no obligation and we will agree between us how you would like to proceed, this agreement will then be regularly reviewed to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your investment of time and money
How much does it cost?
Each Hull-based counselling session for private clients lasts for 1 hour and the cost is £45. I accept cash, cheque or credit/debit card. EAP work can be undertaken at a cost of between £45 – £60 per hour, please enquire for further details.
