Angie Coverdale
How can I help?
I have experience of working with a range of issues, some of which include and are not limited to complicated grief and loss, complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety and depression, historical childhood abuse, low self-esteem and confidence. I currently work remotely via Teams. I can also work over the telephone; however, this medium is not suitable for EMDR.
I am passionate about helping individuals achieve their goal, no matter how big or small they may feel they are. I treat every client with respect, empathy and warmth, and feel very privileged to be trusted to share their experiences. I will work at a pace that feels right for you, in a non-judgemental and genuine way. I would describe myself as being very down to earth and caring.
What kind of counselling do I provide?
My initial training was as a Person-Centred counsellor, but over the years I have adapted my style and through continued professional development, my approach is now an integrative one. I have experience of working with both private clients and clients referred through the NHS Let’s Talk account. I am also qualified in IAPT Counselling for Depression which is a NICE-recommended talking therapy. I work with adults.
Please note that I currently only work remotely, either online via Teams or on the telephone.
I also provide EMDR therapy
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) can treat mental health conditions which have resulted from memories from traumatic events in your past. It’s best known for its role in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but it can also be used to treat many other conditions, such as anxiety, depression and more. It can help clients process traumatic memories and reduce the emotional intensity and distress associated with them. It allows the brain to ‘unblock’ memories that can remain vivid and emotionally charged and help to facilitate ‘natural healing’ without requiring verbal recounting of the trauma. Unlike traditional talking therapy, EMDR does not require a detailed discussion of the traumatic memory, making it suitable for clients who find verbal processing difficult. When you undergo EMDR, you focus on the distressing memory whilst using bilateral stimulation (guided eye movements, tapping or auditory tones).
How much does it cost?
Each Hull-based counselling session for private clients lasts for 1 hour and the cost is £60. Payment is by bank transfer before the session. EAP work can be undertaken from £65 per session, please enquire for further details.
How many sessions do I need?
That’s entirely up to you. You can come to your first session and decide that you’ve managed to come to a resolution about what was troubling you, or you may decide to embark on longer-term therapy, or something in between! There is no obligation and we will agree between us how you would like to proceed. This agreement will then be regularly reviewed to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your investment of time and money.
What’s the next step?
If you’d like to book a session with a qualified Hull-based counsellor, or would like any more information, please either give me a call on 07823 483505, email me on a.coverdale@couragecounselling.co.uk or fill in the Get in Touch form (and specify that you’d like to work with me).
